Filipino singer and rapper Eyedress has released a new single featuring Mac DeMarco called “The Dark Prince,” co-written by Demarco and Eyedress, as well as Zach Fogarty and John Hill.
The psych-garage rockers are no strangers to several album releases a year, but a trio of new albums in one month is new for King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.
All released on their own record label, the album titled, Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava, will be the first to drop on Oct. 7. Laminated Denim will follow with an Oct. 12 release. The album Changes will arrive on Oct. 28.

As a performer, Mac DeMarco presents a very specific version of himself to the audience. He’s a happy-go-lucky troubadour, a jokester and unlikely heartthrob whose live shows often find him indulging in extended jam sessions with his band that sometimes feature schlocky cover versions of Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s “Takin’ Care Of Business” or Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five.”
The music that Ty Segall plays is, at least on the surface, not all that complicated. He plays rock and roll. That might be oversimplifying it a bit, but not by much. The San Francisco singer-songwriter is at his best when his songs are slathered in obscene gobs of dirty, druggy fuzz.
This Polaris Prize-nominated record largely continues the breezy and easy vibe of 2012’s 2, but with a touch more sophistication and nuance, yielding some of his best songs yet, including the gorgeously grooving “Brother.” DeMarco shows off an impressive evolution here, but without shedding any of his previous releases’ scruffy charm. Salad Days goes down easier than an ice-cold PBR.
